There is a fear of the power over seeds and lack of federal regulation that characterises Monsanto. Wendal Berry wrote a relevant book on the subject; it is reccomended. Perhaps science is being miss-used in the case of Monsanto's manipulation of plant genes. Human minds are being taken advantage of to further exploit others. People are paying off science to come out how they want it to. We have to start... Mary Oyama's information is shared by Mikey Brodey. Genetic engeniering is unpredictable and unsafe (was written June 17th). Gmo's have been seen to cause birth defects (in vegetables) (first hand experience of Arem). Distinction: Breaking into the nucleus of cells and modifying genes from there. Not anthropogenic selection of favorable genetypes; ie historical, cultural manipulation of natural selection via gathering and cutivation of plants with favorable traits.

Monsanto's operation is seeds, they dont grow food, they dont sustain Hawai'i at all. Native Hawaiian plants, normal plants, cant grow in Roundup soil. Roundup is an herbecide. Hepteclore eventually seeped into the ground water, now they have to check for it in Hawai'i , thanks to the pineapple industry.

Because it kills everything else it is promoting monocrops. Monocrops mean a decrease in biodiversity, and are there for unsustainable. [Not to mention soil nutrient depletion (my caps)] They are very unsustainable.

Monsanto wants to be a dominant, monopoly, company. They force small farmers to buy their seeds and chemical products. They also make and have made chemical weapons [Agent Orange (my caps)]. Jeffery Smith. A lack of control. If you control the food then you control the whole population.

Would we benefit from selecting a couple specific issues to focus on, to facilitate digestion of the enormity of the Monsanto problem? Would it be more effective to just ask general questions that would get others interested in the answeres to these questions? The maoli attitude is that they are against GMOs. Are the consumers responcible for fuiling the Monsanto fire?

Ironicly Europe is more progressive, GMO wise, than America. Is the average person more of a green thumb than they realise? It is clear that they are trying to dominate the seeds of the world, the food of the world. we should be able to trace their lobbying. The dangers of their involvement with the state. We can farm, we can shop selectively, but only to a certain extent. We have divission of labor (in our society). We each have a role to play. There are both city living people, and farmers. We do our part by going to the farmer's markets.

Wind blows pollen, beez move pollen around. Organic farmers are becoming infected by GMO pollen, and then sued by Monsanto's lawyers.

Some discussion over possible demands. Multiple GMO marches to converge at a set location? Port or McDonalds shut down? Go into stores and put labels on products? Would shutdowns cause to much incovenience for people? Do we have the people-power to do any thing like that? Port shut downs get military directly involved. Should we have a list of ideas? Raise money by selling buttons? Manufacturing truthful workbooks for kids? Could we harness the Olelo station? Should we go to the capital? Can we have a permit for amplified sound? Flashmobs? Flash labeling events? Drive by Fred Perlack's house with tractors? Have a rally up in the forest? Have a march in a Taro lo'i and film it; create our own paradigm with our own media? A series of protests instead of just one day? A combination of tactics? Four hours with a sign and some flyers? Emulate nation-wide protests? Kanaka Maoli? Should we locate seed farms? This is very secret information?

The world is watching Hawai'i interms of dealing with the threeat of GMOs. These fields may not be so hard to find. Find a 415 and make a map/maps of these sites. Parents make kids eat GMO food. Could we do cost research on cost effective ways for low income families to avoid GMOs. You can buy seeds with food stamps. Can we buy organic with food stamps? We can buy organic with food stamps! Seed stations. Eating In Public. No Mula .com. Seed bank truck? Occupy monsanto. com. Monsanto website.

GMO fields on Hawai'i mapping group to be created. List of GMO demands working group to be created. A September 17 working group to be created. A smaller action working group to be created. A seedling working group to be created. A research working group to be created.

Working groups to come up with a proposal to pass at a G.A. We have internet forums to use for communication. Next GMO/ Occupay Monsanto G.A to be held on 8/5/2012, Sunday, other side of the tree.
